Building on
a History

The Lawrenceville Highway corridor that connects Decatur and Tucker was once the home to a famous gas station sign that said “Hello World”. That sign was located in an area known as “Pea Ridge,” named for the abundance of pea farmers located in the area. Though the sign and the Pea Ridge name are things of the past, our neighborhood still yearns for a time when small, independent, friendly businesses ruled the streets. We hope to bring our years of experience in the food and hospitality industry into the community and create something the locals are proud of. We will be serving simple fresh foods, made from scratch, and served with love in a fun atmosphere. Come check us out at Pea Ridge.

MEET THE OWNERS

As the new owners, we can’t wait to meet you and we hope you will come say hello and meet us soon. We live in the neighborhood - close enough in fact, you may see our son’s Cozy Coupe parked out front as he likes to ‘drive to work’. We are invested in continuing to make Pea Ridge a neighborhood staple that is rooted in and tied to the community. A little more about us and how we got into this…

Aaron Zarczynski
Owner, Executive Chef

With more than 25 years of experience in restaurant operations I have a unique understanding of what make restaurants thrive. My journey started as a teenager working at a local pizza establishment in Tucson, AZ. As I gained more experience and my passion grew, I decide to further my education. In 2005 I moved to Atlanta and enrolled in Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts. Not only did this give me a solid foundation to build a culinary career on but allowed me the opportunity to complete an externship at the famed 2 Michelin starred Hugo’s restaurant in Berlins Intercontinental Hotel. Over the years I have grown my culinary knowledge across various cuisines. I have been the Executive Chef of 11 restaurants and have lead the opening, menu development and training of 7 establishments. Key highlights include: Leading the kitchen and menu creation of Juju Asian Tapas in Durham, NC which was awarded Opentable’s 100 Hottest restaurants of 2015; developing the menu and culinary vision for Drink.Well and Banger’s Sausage House and Beer Garden both of which are now destination locations in Austin. Upon returning to Atlanta in 2017, I have worked as Chef de Cuisine at Warhorse Investments, Executive Chef at Nordstroms, and Executive Chef General Manager at Del Frisco’s Grille Buckhead. We are now realizing our dream of owning and operating a restaurant.

Owner, Creative Director

Much to my parents dismay my favorite past time as a kid was to play restaurant which entailed me pinning up sheets and currents around the house at all hours of the night to create dining rooms and kitchens. They would often wake up to ‘meals’ created from jello packets and pie crusts. My chef skills were yet to come, but everything was served in a distinct place with clear ambiance. I learned quickly that was where I shined: creating an experience and a brand. In school I studied graphic design and art direction and have spent the past 12 years making ads for clients such as Samsung, Southwest Airlines, The home Depot, Nationwide, Crocs and Carnival to name a few. From large multi million dollar TV shots to scrappy, hands on social media shoots, to websites and rebranding, to PR and live, experiential events I have had the pleasure of doing a bit of everything. It is these skills that I love to put to use in the restaurant world. How do we create and bring a concept to life that evokes a feeling and connection with guests? Then how do we tell them about it and get them in the door to experience what we built.

“Eat at a local restaurant tonight. Get the cream sauce. Have a cold pint at 4 o’clock in a mostly empty bar. Go somewhere you’ve never been. Listen to someone you think may have nothing in common with you. Order the steak rare. Eat an oyster. Have a negroni. Have two. Be open to a world where you may not understand or agree with the person next to you, but have a drink with them anyways. Eat slowly. Tip your server. Check in on your friends. Check in on yourself. Enjoy the ride.”
